Partners for Success Inititaves

The Council received funding from the State of Indiana Family and  Social Services Administration, Division of Mental Health and Addiction  starting in 2016 to implement a series of evidence-based community  programs and strategies.  We anticipate the Partners for Success (PFS) grant extending through 2019. 

Porter County Substance Abuse Grant Coordinator,  Carley Samayoa is trained and certified to implement all facets of the grant.  There is a  mix of evidence –based programs and strategies that address risk and  protective factors for youth ages 12 – 16 and young adult college age  17-25 years old.  Underage drinking prevention targets alcohol abuse  among ages 12-20 and prescription drug use for young adults 12-25. 

The grant utilizes the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to  access community needs, build capacity for prevention work, select  evidence-based programs, practice and policies within the community,  evaluate program efforts within a culturally competent framework, and  focus continual efforts towards sustain efforts after the grant cycle.   Data collected from focus groups throughout the county help access local  conditions and determine preventive measures for underage drinking and  prescription drug misuse/abuse.
