Each Porter County High School student in grades 11th and 12th are invited to participate in a simulated driving and skills test. The student will use goggles specifically designed to mimic use of marijuana and/or alcohol. The student will be accompanied by a police officer that will guide them as they steer through a series of obstacles. The point of the event is to allow students to experience the effect of substances on their hand - eye coordination by impairing their sight and senses.
Each year we present this event to reinforce the dangers of drinking and driving, drug use and texting. Officers are available on site to answer any questions.
If you school is not listed in the column to the right and would like to find out more about scheduling an event, call Kaitlyn at (219) 280-5252. Other organizations such as church youth groups or youth-serving organizations are welcome to schedule a session too!
After completing the obstacle course, students will receive a gift bag with halo selfie light, grippy socks with event logo, and Starbucks card and prom checklist to help you plan!
